Finding Motivation

As a small business owner, it can sometimes be challenging to remain focused, upbeat, and enthusiastic – especially when there are so many distractions (dishes, TV, kids) vying for your attention. Add self-doubt, discouragement, and fear to the mix and finding the motivation to keep taking those much needed business steps can be downright debilitating.

Without a boss looming over your shoulder, what techniques can you implement to overcome the myriad challenges in order to get the job done? Here are a couple of suggestions.

  • Set easily achievable goals. Committing to half an hour of warm calling every day instead of an entire day of cold calling could be the difference you need to succeed.
  • Plan to do all your errands before or after a networking event rather than intending to only leave the house for the event. It is far too easy to talk yourself out of it!
  • Read blogs, newsletters, or books that are inspirational to you. One that I  read quite faithfully is the newsletter from Get Clients Now!TM  http://www.getclientsnow.com/free_resources.htm

What tips, tricks, or techniques have you implemented to stay motivated in your self-employment business?

“To succeed… You need to find something to hold on to, something to motivate you, something to inspire you.” – Tony Dorsett
