Overcome Workplace Fatigue with Water!

Dehydration is actually the #1 reason for daytime fatigue, that’s why many of us who work in office environments often feel the need for a “nap” around 3:00 most afternoons.  Just a 2% drop in body water can trigger a headache and/or muscle aches, fuzzy short-term memory, and difficulty focusing on a computer screen.  Always have a glass of water on your desk to drink throughout the day to help keep you hydrated, focused, and  healthy!

By the time you feel thirsty, you are already on the road to dehydration!  Our bodies are 60-75% water depending on our size, and we really should drink a minimum of 2-3L of water every single day.  Apparently 75-90% of our population is dehydrated at any given time.

One of the reasons why many people still feel tired in the morning is that that they are dehydrated after a night’s sleep, so get into the habit of drinking a glass of water first thing every morning, oh, and always ensure you drink before-during-after exercising too!

Drinking a glass of water before-during-after meals helps control our appetite, and aids in digestion as well.  I love icy cold lemon water and don’t forget, plain herbal tea also “counts” toward your daily amount of water.

According to lifehack.org, water…

  • carries oxygen to our cells
  • moisturizes the air in our lungs
  • helps with metabolism
  • protects our joints and muscles
  • regulates body temperature

Obviously, water is a very complex subject, and for more information check out http://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/earth/geophysics/h2o3.htm
